Before proceeding to the sale (or donation) of a vehicle, certain rules should be known. To begin with, note that only the owner of the vehicle can sell it (his full name is shown on the registration card in part C.1). If you have moved since obtaining the registration card, you must have changed your address before the sale (or donation), because it is your address at the time of the transfer that must appear on the document.
If the machine is more than 4 years old and it is not exempt from technical control, it will be necessary to give the future owner proof of passing the exam. The latter must be less than six months old (or even less than two months if a counter-visit has been prescribed and it has not been followed by a second check with a favorable opinion). Please note: it is no longer possible free cars for charity to file the transfer declaration with the prefecture, or to send it by post. The process is now carried out online. This will require using the teleservice accessible on the site of the National Agency for Secure Titles (ANTS). Note that it is necessary to have an ANTS account to carry out this operation. It is possible to connect via France Connect, or with the username and password of your ANTS user account. Please note: if you do not identify yourself via France Connect and your vehicle has an AB 123 CD type registration (issued since 2009), you must indicate the 5-digit confidential code mentioned on the letter you received with the grey card. If you have lost this precious code, do not panic: it is possible to request it within the framework of the teleservice. You will also need to fill in several pieces of information obtained from the future owner (surname, first name, date of birth, etc.). This data is necessary even if you sell or give your vehicle abroad. You will also need to enter the date and time of the transfer, the vehicle mileage and the full address of the new owner. |
